Wood You Believe ... Clayton Coss' art is purely ... Chain Reaction?
In the early years, part of the fascination with this craft is the fact that it is done only with a chainsaw. No chiesls, sanders, routers etc. One of the common questions I would receive is if I finished a carving with hand tools. When they discovered it was ALL chainsaw it became more of a marvel to them. Many carvers of today call themselves “Chainsaw carvers” but in reality they rough out a carving with a chainsaw and finish with sanders, grinders, routers and hand tools . While they may or may not create a nice carving it is not a “chainsaw carving” simply a wood carving. It is probably old school on my part but is still an important point to me. I’ve been doing this for 40 years.
